Children to Receive Free Dental Care at Arizona School of Denistry & Oral Health

The National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research estimates that children miss 52 million hours of school each year due to oral health problems.  To honor Children’s Dental Health Month, A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) in partnership with Arizona Dental Foundation (ADF) will host Give Kids A Smile® where hundreds of underserved Valley children will receive dental treatment free of charge.

The Arizona Coalition for Tomorrow (ACT) Health Fair was held on September 29. Working with businesses, government and educational leaders, and partnering with organizations like Maricopa County Medical Society (MCMS); ACT organizes this all-volunteer event to serve at-risk children that are eligible for metropolitan Phoenix Head Start programs, but lack appropriate medical clearances. Services include dental, eye, hearing and asthma screenings; lead testing, TB tests, physicals, blood tests, immunizations, vision screenings and nutrition information.

Saint Jude Hospice of Mesa Seeking Volunteers

Saint Jude Hospice of Mesa is seeking compassionate and committed Volunteers to provide support to patients who are experiencing a life limiting illness. Saint Jude Hospice Volunteers play an indispensable role in enabling them to offer the best care possible for patients, their families and caregivers.

Participants of their Volunteer program receive 30 hours of training and provide invaluable support with patient visiting, clerical duties or special projects.

Volunteer to Help an Older Adult Who Needs One-on-one Support

Duet: Partners in Health and Aging, is a non-profit, interfaith, Phoenix-based organization offering a variety of excellent services to the community since 1981. They are always seeking volunteers (see below). In addition, physician's offices can enhance and extend care for their patients by utilizing Duet's services.
