Founded in 1966, the Academy of Medical Science of Maricopa County, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was formed. In 2023, the organization was relaunched as the MCMS Foundation, with its mission to operate exclusively for charitable, scientific or educational purposes.
The foundation's mission and priorities are:

To provide outreach to underprivileged students about careers in healthcare.

To help leverage the medical community to educate physicians about community partners that can help with social determinants of health.

To provide scholarships to medical students coming from underprivileged backgrounds.
